Job Description

The Squad Leader is responsible for the execution of the Services squads. The leader is responsible for the accuracy of the deliverables, compliance and timely turnaround coming from the stakeholders. The leader has an important role in the relationship with the stakeholders and is accountable for the defined metrics. They have responsibility to establish a strong and fluid relationship with the stakeholders and serve as a consultant on the execution feasibility of the requests. This role has people management responsibility for two squads (20 people) and is responsible for talent and skills management for QTC Services C&I employees within the squad. This leader will serve to build relationships with peer leaders in other squads, as well as clients supported. They remove barriers and enable work, manage demand from a single prioritized funnel ensuring optimal workload balancing, participate in tactical Kaizen, and ensure the teams have the necessary tools to be successful. This leader will also manage the squad budget, handle people management escalations, and ensure the funnel of work is optimized and that the risk management is sound. Monitor industry best practices for servant leadership and benchmark their teams against competitors. This leader needs to be able to drive continuous improvement in QTC Services support to the business. Coach and enable employees to help cultivate alignment with QTC Operations Agile revolution.

The squads this individual will lead are responsible for QTC services for client or set of clients supported by the squads. These squads will handle transactional and non-transactional activities related to clients. If the squad supports more than one business unit, then, the Squad Leader will need to interface with multiple business unit executives on a daily basis. The outcomes of the work the squads perform has a greater impact on IBM's revenue. Squad Leaders will support a specific market.


  • Establishing interlocks with the Client Unit Leader/Cluster Leader / Industry Leader as acting COO for the Contracts supported by his/her squads

  • Ensuring quality and compliance of the GBS or GTS QTC Operations squad and resolving any operational conflicts

  • Acting as Servant Leader

  • Building relationships with peer leaders in other squads, as well as clients supported

  • Removing barriers and enabling work

  • Participating in tactical Kaizen, and ensuring the teams have the necessary tools to be successful

  • Driving continuous improvement in QTC Operations support to the business, achieving key metrics where applicable

  • Coaching and enabling employees to cultivate alignment with Enterprise Services Agile culture

  • Managing the squad budget

  • Handling people management and operational escalations

  • Ensuring the funnel of work is optimized within the squad
