Job Description

IBM is hiring a Solution Architect for the Gaia Offering Introduction team in RTP, NC or Cambridge, MA.

We are not offering relocation for this role.

Join us at Gaia, a collaborative initiative to radically transform the entire XaaS business model at IBM. Teams from across business units have joined together to build a new digital, integrated, simplified platform to enable customers, sellers, and offering managers. You will be on the Gaia Offering Introduction squad, responsible for onboarding IBM products onto the Salesforce/Apttus platform. As a Solution Architect, you’ll help build an SFDC-based Quote-to-Cash suite of products, including CPQ (configure/price/quote), contract management, revenue and rebate management, and other related solutions. You will also be responsible for developing custom applications using and integrating Salesforce with other systems.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead technical requirements gathering sessions and write technical requirements documents

  • Lead technical design sessions and write technical design documents

  • Carry out complex SFDC APEX and Visual Force development

  • Provide hands-on expert level assistance to other developers for technical issues

  • Design and manage the execution of test plans and ensure a quality solution is delivered

  • Become an expert in E-Commerce, CPQ, and downstream enterprise applications such as the ERP

  • Become an expert in web application development, Salesforce integration/extensions, and designing solutions using API, APEX, Visual Force, and other tools that extend the product


  • Able to collaborate in a large group setting

  • Familiar with agile methods and processes

  • Able to do complex Apex/Visual Force Development with a high level of quality

  • Able to work closely as a part of a team without customers and internal Project Managers, Technical Architects, Business System Analysts, and other Developers

  • Demonstrate a track record with standard SDLC and Agile implementation techniques

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Minimum 5 to 8 years experience as a team member of successful software project implementations related to SaaS, E-Commerce, CPQ, Quote-to-Cash, CRM, or ERP

  • Minimum 3+ years of complex SFDC Apex and Visual Force Page development

  • Thorough understanding of SFDC governor limits and best practice guidelines

  • Completion of several Salesforce integration and extension projects in development and lead technical roles

  • Experience in designing and developing integrations from to upstream and downstream applications using API(s)

  • Knowledgeable with master data management in

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • Experience with Rational Team Concert (RTC), Slack, Box, and Zoom

  • Experience implementing E-Commerce products such as SAP/Hybris, Oracle/ATG, Ebay/Magento,, etc.

  • Experience implementing web content management solutions such as Adobe Experience Manager, Sitecore, Drupal, etc.
