Job Description

Who you are :

  • The Business Operations Specialist is an individual who is primarily focused on the key aspects of how a business operates on a day-to-day basis.

  • You will be a highly motivated individual who has prior experience in a Business Operations role and a flexible approach to tackling problems and issues as they occur whilst always being on the lookout for ways to improve the processes currently in place that run this part of the IBM business today.

What you’ll do:

  • Working within the Offering Management team in IBM Resiliency Services, you will provide business operations expertise to the Global Offering Manager for the High Availability Services portfolio of offerings.

  • Ensure the operational data used by the business is updated correctly by the business administration team.

  • Provide the business management team with cost vs. revenue position through reconciliation of transaction information from ledgers.

  • Create and maintain metrics and KPI reports on business operations, effectiveness and business impact.

  • Improve business operations processes and systems to ensure that information systems support departmental business operational needs.

  • Assist the Offering Manager in arranging training sessions for the technical community for the offerings managed within this area of the portfolio.

  • Prepare and review legal documents that support the business operation such as documents of understanding between IBM entities in different countries.

  • Ensure timely billing of outstanding purchase orders, invoices or other inter-company billing requirements.

  • Engage with the marketing teams to ensure website and wiki information is accurate and updated in a timely fashion.

  • Be responsible for identification of any new sources of personal information that may need to be recorded and ensure compliance with any regulations such as the recently introduced General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Fluency in English is essential.

  • Strong analytical skills (including use of Microsoft Excel and SQL tools such as QMF) to provide data-backed analysis leveraging large data sets and experience with reporting and data analysis.

  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

  • Critical thinking to identify, analyze and resolve problems.

  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks in high activity, dynamic environment.

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Operational Management, Business Administration or related field or relevant industry experience
