IBM Developer Technical Communication Strategist in SAN FRANCISCO, California

Job Description

As Developer Technical Communications Strategist, you will define, organize, operationalize, evolve and evangelize DEGs mission and the IBM Developer Way messaging and communication strategy to internal DBG teams, IBM BUs, marketers, agencies and the industry at-large. You will serve as the publicist for DEG, its products, programs and IBM’s Chief Developer Advocate and VP of Developer Technology, Advocacy and Open Source.

You will work with the team to work cross functionally across Developer Marketing, Developer Advocacy, Events, Open Source, BUs, GBS/GTS to drive IBM’s engagement with the global developer community. We’re looking for strategy and execution focused on developer acquisition and engagement through compelling storytelling, channels, campaigns, and events.

Developer empathy and understanding is key to this role. The role requires deep strategic thought, creativity, and a strong technical background, and an expertise in framing a compelling developer narrative. You are analytical and use data to answer the right questions, and craft a communications strategy to drive developer engagement and consumption.

Qualifications

10+ years of progressively growing and wide-ranging experience spanning technical marketing, communications and strategy with developers or technical audience

BA in Marketing, Communications or equivilant

Strong strategic and execution skills honed through a wide range of technology/product, business and leadership challenges and experiences

Exceptional executive presence, able to represent DEG's at industry events and internally with IBM executives worldwide

Strong public speaking and communication skills, to inspire, engage, energize and advocate internally and externally - lead through influence, respect

Self-Confidence – A demonstrated belief in one's capability to accomplish a task and select an effective approach to a task or problem.

Discretion- Ensure all information and knowledge of executive office is kept confidential and all business handled with strict discipline.

Willingness and able to travel as dictated by executive calendar and needs

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

BA in Marketing, Communications or equivilant
