Our IBM Open Technologies team is the focal point for managing and contributing to open source projects and open standards within IBM.
We now have an open position for a Senior Software Engineer to participate in, and contribute to the Node.js open source project supported and hosted by the Node.js Foundation, with the expectation that this individual would earn Node.js Collaborator status within the Node.js community. While the development work is Node.js focused, we are seeking individuals with a well-rounded software development background working with multiple languages and platforms.
A successful Senior Software Engineer must possess a unique blend of architectural and development acumen and must have the ability to produce innovation.
You would be expected to:
• Write great code to contribute to Node.js .
• Read and comment on more code than you write; fix bugs, test cases, and documentation.
• Gain eminence in the community by socializing your work, and speaking at IBM and open source developer events.
• Have strong communications skills and deep open source development skills; as well as interpersonal skills to interact with clients, team members and executive management.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
3 to 5 plus years of experience with, and deep understanding of, open source culture and development practices
3 plus years of experience in systems level programming language (e.g., C, C++, or Java)
Preferred Tech and Prof Experience
Node.js very strongly preferred but not mandatory
Knowledge of operating systems and cloud runtime design principles
Demonstrated ability to lead and influence across teams and companies
Demonstrated ability to work with people of diverse technical and social backgrounds and perspectives
