IBM Associate Partner, Risk & Compliance – Financial Services in Raleigh, North Carolina

Job Description

IBM Global Business Service (GBS) is currently seeking Associate Partner practitioners with expertise in Risk & Compliance (Financial Services) and demonstrated success in business development and engagement delivery. Financial Crimes, Anti-Money Laundering, Governance Risk and Control, and process and control automation specifically related to compliance are key skill areas.

The IBM Global Business Services (GBS) Risk & Compliance Practice are experienced risk practitioners who helping our clients reduce risk, fraud, and improve compliance in innovative ways. The coming wave of change in the industry is to industrialize and automate these functions, and IBM is leading that wave with hundreds of clients using our products and services to make the financial system safer and more efficient.

Some responsibilities include:

  • Assess client needs, benchmark clients against peers and best practices in several areas, and recommend solutions that contain significant innovation in technology.

  • Knowledge of the different technologies available, how to use them, and what kind of benefits they provide are useful.

  • Grasp of data architectures, cognitive solutions, and natural language processing are useful, but experts in these areas are in a different practice. Our group works with clients to apply these products at scale to achieve real benefits.

You will be expected to carry both a sale and a revenue target, helping to sell existing opportunities and grow new ones through business relationships. Profitability and continuity of relationships is also important. You must be able to identify opportunities to improve risk and compliance functions in the areas above, and convince clients to undertake these opportunities, bringing in other skills as required to achieve value for the client on a sustained basis.

You will also mentor and coach more junior staff, training them to improve their skills in their subject areas as well as consulting, client relationships, selling, etc. You are also expected to contribute new and creative ideas which differentiate us from our competitors.

The ideal candidate will have a mix of consulting and industry experience, but must be comfortable working in a consulting environment. Some level of experience working in a complex and matrixed environment is also useful.

Northeast locations are highly preferred, but all locations will be considered.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 10 years of experience in managing or consulting in the Financial Services industry

  • 5 years of experience in a prior consulting role with responsibility for and demonstrated success in business development and account management with Financial Services clients focused on Risk & Compliance

  • 3 years of experience in the awareness of risk solutions or platforms in the industry (e.g., trade surveillance, anti-money laundering (AML), stress testing, etc.) as relevant to the domain

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • Experience working in a large consulting firm experience

  • Professional experience in managing and executing large scale transformation initiatives and projects

  • Experienced working in a matrixed environment
