IBM is hiring an Offering Manager Intern for our Hybrid Cloud business unit. Work location can be Raleigh, North Carolina, Austin, Texas, or San Jose, California. You will work with our Offering Management and Sales teams and directly with IBM partners. This role is a great opportunity to learn about the world of "big data", through involvement with a key IBM partnership with Hortonworks. Hortonworks is an innovative business that has formed around an open source technology, Hadoop, and IBM is now bringing Hortonworks' products to market through this partnership. While this role doesn't require a technologist per se, you should be excited and intrigued about technology in general and data / open source in particular. You will get exposure to sales and partnerships in high technology, by direct involvement with an innovative partnership between IBM and a 'next generation' partner. This is an amazing opportunity to get exposure to the emerging world of data and data science, one of IBM's key growth initiatives. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, inquisitive, detail oriented, and organized.
Your responsibilities will include:
Facilitate timely approval of sales quotations requiring interlock with IBM business partners (including Hortonworks)
Understand, thoroughly document and enforce agreed upon approval processes, and apply judgment on when expert assistance is needed to proceed
Recommend and put in place a tracking mechanism for all requested approvals and the outcome, for future reference and auditability
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Very strong organizational skills and written communications
Experience with Excel and/or other lightweight database tools
Preferred Tech and Prof Experience
