Working under minimal supervision, this position takes technical ownership for delivery of the capability expressed system software requirements specifications and models. Working with the architect, the Senior Developer serves as an energetic and positive technical facilitator of the development team. The Senior Developer understands the organizations strategic architectural direction and ensures that all deliverables make progress to converge with the technical strategy, often spanning an extended period.
Analyze business and user requirements for clarity, completeness, scope, and technical feasibility. Decompose requirements into system and software functional designs.
Ensure the project’s software delivery processes remain in compliance with the quality system definitions.
Analyses and assists more junior staff in identifying security, performance, and general misbehavior of implementations. Leads in the diagnosis and troubleshooting of problem areas. Provides solutions to problematic programming.
Provide software functional designs that are secure, robust, scalable, testable, and serviceable.
Provide technical mentoring for more junior development staff.
Produce technical documents software designs that describe the system’s intended behavior.
Participate in the review of cross-functional delivery artifacts including requirements, architecture, and quality assurance.
Pursues a program of continuous self-development.
Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or upper management.

Proven comprehensive knowledge of how cloud computing is changing the delivery model for software and services.
Possess extensive knowledge of continuous, global delivery of secure Java web applications and RESTful services.
Proven ability to serve as the primary team technical focal for a small group of developers.
Proven ability to innovate and propose thoughtful solutions to both new and existing problem areas.
Demonstrated understanding of how to build highly available solutions at global scale with high resilience.
Competence with the entire web stack, container based delivery, and high level networking/routing.
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to create and consume standard software development collateral.
Ability to identify and escalate gaps in solution understanding and viability of the solution to meet user needs.
Experience with Node.js, MS .NET, Apache OpenWhisk, and/or NoSQL storage would be an asset.
Experience working in a regulated environment, especially healthcare, would be an asset.
