IBM Watson Customer Engagement - Internal Communications Manager in Los Angeles, California

Job Description

The Internal Communications Manager is responsible for delivering clear, inspiring and engaging internal communications. In this role, you will serve as the voice of IBM Watson Customer Engagement to increase brand preference, advance thought leadership and drive demand for our portfolio of offerings across the business units and GEOs within IBM.

You will collaborate with executives, clients and business partners, and team with product marketing, offering management and sales, in an agile environment to:


  • Develop and implement internal communication strategies that drive awareness and understanding of the WCE portfolio, and connects IBM employees and Partners to the organization’s mission and key messages.

  • Support development of internal messaging and framework that enables effective cross-team communication and alignment.

  • Manage an internal communications calendar and content pipeline to ensure continual flow of client success stories, new product offerings, and major initiatives within the department.

  • Plan, write and/or edit content for key internal channels such as all-hands calls, weekly newsletters, critical employee communications and new product launch initiatives.

  • Showcase clients' success with IBM by helping to create exceptional content that depicts the value proposition of the organization’s solutions.

  • Manage and write a variety of executive communications for the CMO including speeches, presentations, blog posts, social content, newsletters, etc.

  • Storyboard or translate ideas to the creative team of art directors and designers

  • Ensure organizational initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees and stakeholders.

  • Respond to feedback from staff and adjust communications content accordingly.

  • Act as functional team lead for a comms writer and comms designer.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Must be located in Austin, TX, Raleigh, NC, NY, NY or Boston, MA.

  • 8-10 years of experience in branding and written communications including messaging, scripting, value propositions and points of view

  • The ideal candidate is strategic, results oriented, a self-starter, highly collaborative and organized and works seamlessly to manage a shifting workload.

  • Candidates should excel at working in a fast paced work environment with rapid/continual changes.

  • Attention to detail and exceptional messaging and storytelling skills are essential, as is the ability to simplify and articulate the business value of complex technical concepts, like artificial intelligence and blockchain.

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • Experience in hi-tech solution areas preferred

  • Experience in digital marketing technology preferred
