IBM Data Security Client Technical Professional in Houston, Texas

Job Description

IBM is seeking to hire a Security Technical Professional that will be IBM’s technical sales consultant to our clients, sales teams and Business Partners. The candidate will learn the client's business requirements, technical requirements, and competitive landscape and apply their technical knowledge and experience to introduce new solutions. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, collaborating with IBM sales teams to define, design, and detail the technical aspects, determine the feasibility of proposed solutions, deliver solution workshops, product demonstrations, technical education, and proof of concepts. The candidate will support technical escalations, design solutions, and answer technical questions throughout the sales process in order to progress and close sales and develop customer relationships.


  • Partner with sales peers to provide technical guidance, expertise and sales assistance.

  • Call on customers at all levels of the business during all stages of the sales cycle.

  • Hold discussions with a wide range of attendees including technical and business executives, management, and technical staff.

  • Maintain understanding of the client’s industry, including industry trends, industry business processes.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Basic knowledge in current security threats, what to look for and how to mitigate them

  • At least 1 year experience in one or more of the following industries: Retail, Travel and Transit, Consumer products, Financial Markets, Government, Telecommunications, Healthcare

  • Basic knowledge in Data Security solutions

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • At least 3 years experience in technical sales or security engineering

  • At least 3 years experience in selling enterprise solutions in the security market with history of technical sales success

  • At least 2 years experience in installing, configuring, and managing one or more of the following technologies: Data management, Data Security, File Management, Data Access Management

  • At least 2 years experience in programming languages

  • Basic knowledge in Guardium
