IBM DB2 DataBase Administrator in HEREDIA, Costa Rica

Job Description

Job Purpose: To maintain DB2 database environments by identifying system requirements, installing database software, upgrading, patching, monitoring and resolving performance issues.

Importance of innovation: A database administrator needs to be able to innovate and think outside of the box. Being able to improve processes and automate tasks is a crucial ability to reduce response time and improve our client support.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Database installation and configuration on Unix, Linux and Windows

  • Manage database security and access

  • Tablespace management

  • Perform deviation checks and remediation changes

  • Performance and error troubleshooting skills

  • Maintenance tasks including data reorg and rebalancing

  • Patching and upgrades

  • Database backup and restore

  • Import and export of schemas and tablespaces

  • DB2 HADR setup and administration

  • Knowledge of the change, problem and incident management process.

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • Fast learner and be able to adapt to changes, willing to take direction

  • Have a very good interpersonal skills, written and verbal

  • Performance and error troubleshooting skills

  • Scripting and automation abilities

  • Knowledge of the change, problem and incident management process

  • Ability to write clear, concise documentation.

  • High problem solving and conflict resolution capabilities.

  • High communication skills and the ability to work with remote team

  • Sense of ownership and teamwork are a must

  • Proficiency of different OS: Windows, Linux and Unix
