IBM Services for Managed Applications enables clients to migrate their most demanding IT workloads to an enterprise-ready, IBM managed cloud platform to achieve greater flexibility and scalability. This reduces customer costs and increases agility while freeing up staff resources.
Sales Engineers are key members of the IBM sales team, responsible for designing solutions for customer workloads running in IBM’s enterprise managed cloud platform. This position requires proactive and technical leadership throughout the sales cycle, from initial opportunity identification and qualification through contract signature. Sales Engineers create and maintain strong, trusted internal and client relationships at all levels. Sales Engineers apply their broad technical skills, industry knowledge and business acumen to design solution recommendations for their clients. These recommendations leverage IBM technologies integrated solutions, and hybrid cloud patterns to deliver tangible business value to clients.
The IBM Sales Engineering role serves global clients, with emphasis on North America region.
A successful candidate exhibits professional mastery related to sales operations, strategies, and objectives in leading edge or critical situations. The candidate will be required to travel up to 30% on average.
A successful candidate should demonstrate the ability to establish rapport with prospects, clients and internal partners. The candidate should also possess strong presentation skills and be able to meet customer needs through effective teaming with internal counterparts

The candidate should also be able to apply flexible thinking to problems to identify and refine solutions tailored to both the business and technical requirements as well as the client’s budget.

A successful candidate is responsible to multiple internal counterparts in the sales organization to deliver workable solutions. The candidate is also responsible to the business unit to achieve customer satisfaction, control expense, and increase revenue.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
A successful candidate will have deep expertise in hosted managed services. The candidate should also be familiar with the following: ERP systems (SAP HANA, Oracle Applications, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, and others), leading eCommerce systems, leading Cloud platforms, enterprise WAN solutions, SaaS, PaaS and IaaS solution scenarios, security services and general regulatory compliance for IT systems. Expertise and knowledge of our clients’ industries (Distribution, Industrial or Retail) is highly desirable.
