IBM Attorney in BEIJING, China

Job Description

Responsibilities:

• Review, draft, and negotiate a large number of complex customer transactions within a corporate environment

• Response to RFP

• Lead/Support client/customer negotiation on site

• Advise internal clients on business practice and corporate policy

• Participate as the local contracting focal point in an international deal

• Provide contract training for internal client

• Help handle dispute resolution

• Provide legal opinions on various matters

• Provide legal support to various corporate matters as assigned, such as business license, chop management, board resolutions, litigations, general procurement, treasury, etc.

• Provide legal support to non-customer contracts

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• JD/LLB/LLM in law

• Admitted to Chinese Bar or a foreign bar

• 8 to 10 years of practice in a law firm or in a corporation

• Proven ability to efficiently manage a large volume of transactions

• Independently manage drafting transactional documents and correspondence

• General understanding and appreciation of Intellectual Property issues as they apply to commercial IT transactions

• Able to present innovative, original solutions

• Responsive and follows through on commitments

• Strong time management, prioritization, and organizational skills

• Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Chinese

• Working experience in int’l law firm or MNC as a plus
