The Quality Engineering Manager is responsible for the overall quality of the various applications developed by the IBM brokerage organization. The IBM brokerage organization develops applications like Broker Store, Cost and Asset Management, Planning that are at the heart of GTS’ strategy for Hybrid Cloud Management Services (HCMS). According to current analyst estimates, the Hybrid Cloud segment of the Infrastructure Services market will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 31% for the next 5 years.
The IBM Brokerage organization is at the forefront of agile development practices, building applications that are cloud native and microservice-based running on Kubernetes.
The Quality Engineering Manager is responsible for managing a geographically dispersed team of QA Engineers developing a combination of automated test suites (integration, UI, scale, performance) and some manual tests to ensure the highest quality possible. He/she will be coordinating across a cross-disciplinary team (UI/UX, DevOps, developers, testers) to continuously improve standards and processes.
The goal is to set the industry standard for product quality and to benchmark ourselves to the best of the best.
Provide personal support, mentoring, and professional development for members of your team.
Provide regular analysis of quality metrics: escapes, defect metrics, etc. to continuously evolve the strategy to provide outstanding quality and a delightful experience for customers.
Continuously review current and emerging technologies to minimize escapes and increase team efficiency
Work closely with Development Managers, Chief Software Engineer to ensure squads continuously improve the quality of the code and address issues where it makes the most impact.
Assign and allocate resources to projects based on priority and resource workloads.
Provide clear visibility of the measured quality of the products to the whole organization.
Escalate issues as needed in a clear, concise, and timely manner while consistently identifying solutions to issues.
Become an expert in the Brokerage products.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Experience working with large software development projects in an Agile/Scrum environment
Experience implementing automated testing efforts and knowledge of enterprise level automation testing tools
Experience with Software as a Service (SaaS) quality assurance.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate important messages in a clear and concise manner.
Organizational skills. Able to handle multiple projects and prioritize a busy workload.
Ability to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Preferred Tech and Prof Experience
Experience with CI/CD automation
Experience with moving a team from manual testing to automated testing
Experience creating a culture of continuous delivery using DevOps based strategies
Experience with various Testing tools (test rail, etc..)
