The Designer Experience Content Strategist is a hybrid role comprising both design research and content strategy. The IBM Designer Experience team is a talented group of designers, developers, and content creators who ensure that IBM is the best place for designers to practice their craft and grow their skills. The team's work materially impacts the everyday lived experiences of IBM's 1,600 designers
Two teams operated under one program co-located in Austin.
Work alongside leadership, design, and development teams to craft meaningful digital and software experiences through words.
Rationalize communications across teams on the IBM Designer Experience program.
Manage the IBM Designer Experience program’s content calendar to ensure timely publication of updates to the website and any other communications.
RESPONSIBILITIES — RADAR SQUAD
Radar is a suite of internal tools to assess user and customer journeys, and to synthesize organizational priorities to better support these journeys.
Conduct generative research to understand and empathize with user’s mental models.
Synthesize research to derive insights about their relationship to core concepts.
Identify strategies to introduce service design concepts into business systems.
Evaluate and iterate on key project concepts, language, and content.
RESPONSIBILITIES — DUO SQUAD
Duo is the design aesthetic that provides the overarching philosophy and underlying principles that govern and guide everything Designed by IBM .
Craft conversational brand voice guidelines with other IBM content writers.
Conduct content audits of competitive design systems and industry standards to differentiate the Duo Design System (the IBM-wide unified design system)
Translate user needs into well written documentation that helps designers and non-designers apply the design system to various use cases
Work alongside developers to deliver content templates
Write and edit technical design system guidelines, including but not limited to topics like color, icons, motion, grid, components, principles, philosophy
Communicate eloquently with clients, stakeholders, users, and third party service providers about Duo’s value
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Demonstrated communication skills—the ability to connect with audiences in creative ways
Proven experience of work on content/design projects
Experience in copywriting and editing
Detail oriented: you absolutely sweat the small stuff
Solid understanding of project management principles
Outstanding organizational and planning abilities
Proven experience in storytelling
Proficient in English
Ability to work with remote teammates in a fast-paced environment
BS/BA in public relations, communications, marketing, design, or relevant field
Experience in design research: generative and qualitative
Preferred Tech and Prof Experience
Photo, audio, and video-editing skills
Experience in corporate communications and marketing a plus
Communicating to a global and multicultural audience
Background in CX or UX
