The Offering Manager acts as an entrepreneur, strategist, technical visionary, cross-functional team leader, and client advocate. A Offering Manager has two primary responsibilities: (1) defining the new offering to be built; and (2) managing its development, launch, and ongoing improvement. To fulfill these responsibilities, a Offering Manager leads a cross-functional team. Typically, however, none of the team members report directly to the Offering Manager. A Offering Manager influences the actions of diverse cross-functional team as the market authority, acting as a "General Manager" for their scope of the business. The employee leads a functional/business unit.
GTS is launching a new initiative for Client centric IS Integrated Solutions (Offerings). Part of this mission is to incubate new IS Solutions offerings with potential for large scale impact. This role will be to lead the Cross-IS Solution Offering for IoT from conception, through successful execution to meet Clients and GTS business outcomes. WIll require IoT specific experience, knowledge of the key Industries involved and the device manufacturers, the prominent ISVs and platforms by Industry, etc. to be able to pick the right startup points for both Horizontal and vertial parts of the solution and pragmatically collaborate with GBS and WIoT and IBM partners to successfully complete Pilots, learn and scale forward.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Understand a nascent market and technology space like Internet of Things (IoT) and triage that with 2. GTS Infrastructure Services current offerings and capabilities and 3. Client value which they are willing to pay for and 4. come up with an offering strategy and an execution plan to make it materialize within the constraints of the GTS IS business.
Collaborate with GBS and WIoT business units, Sales, Solutioners and Delivery leaders to lead by example to illustrate why our Offering is needed by Clients and how they can help sell, solution and delivery it.
Adopt a startup approach to things and hence need to wear multiple hats if required to get the job done.
jump start IoT traction for GTS IS, starting with Client engagements, learn and harden to scale to a $1B business in the next 2 to 3 years. Starting with a significant impact (100M+) in 2018.
Preferred Tech and Prof Experience
Broad and deep experience and skills in business and technology areas with ability to pick up new trends and technologies quickly.
Be flexible and adaptable to evolving business needs and able to perform in a high intensity environment.
Requires at least 10 to 15 years of experience in the Infrastructure Services area.
