Job Description


IBM Systems has openings for Hardware Development Design Engineer Interns to develop our hardware and semiconductor products. We are part of a world-class microprocessor development team that pioneer innovations for industry-leading hardware in IBM Systems including storage, OpenPOWER and System z Enterprise solutions.

Development engineer interns participate in various aspects of the development and test process, such as:

  • Mechanical design and technology integration

  • Thermal and acoustic testing

  • Circuit or logic design

  • Physical design and layout

  • Power system development

  • Performance modeling

  • Architecture

  • Design test and verification

Ideal candidates will possess demonstrated design, test, and communication skills. Team-based experience in circuit/logic design, power systems, verification, analysis and/or testing is a plus. Candidates with at least three to six months of team-based work experience with hardware products are preferred but NOT required.

  • Fundamental experience or education in hardware design and/or test

  • Strong communication skills

  • Passion to pursue career path in mechanical OR electrical OR computer engineering

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • 6 months experience or education in hardware design and/or test
