The role of the Offering Manager in the Payer Innovation Lab is to drive sustaining and disruptive innovation that grows our Payer business. The Offering Manager will explore viability of potential innovation ideas and develop solution concepts that can be tested, refined and piloted in the market in order to grow our Payer business.
Participate in evaluation and screening of potential innovations based on our larger payer strategy.
Assess potential innovation opportunities – assemble lean business case (quantify market opportunity, competitive landscape, and evaluate technical feasibility) to make recommendations on where to invest.
For specific innovations, manage the process of moving through the stages of solution definition, market testing, prototype development and pilot collaborating with others in the Offering team, Payer business and IBM. Collaborate with cross-functional team through this process.
Engage with prospects and clients to present potential innovations, gather feedback and generate interest. Based on client interests, propose Proof of Concepts and secure client funding to contribute to the goal of $2-4 million in Innovation funding annually.
Provide playbacks at key intervals with the Payer Market Management Team to provide management oversight.
Engage with IBM Research team on joint projects that advance our solutions.
Provide business direction and guidance for the team.
Build close, collaborative relationships with other functional areas as well as with clients to achieve business objectives.
Build a strong understanding of our solutions and competencies in IBM and IBM Watson Health.
Coordinate closely with Payer Offering Management team to ensure successful innovation prototypes / concepts are further commercialized and released to the market.
Contribute to creating a culture of innovation in the organization by connecting other staff with innovation work to capture ideas and encourage employee engagement.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
8+ yrs exp within the healthcare market delivering information services or software.
Exp using data / healthcare analytics to solve business problems.
Passion for understanding business needs and strong problem solving skills.
Strategic thinker, proven track record of driving innovation.
Experience with disruptive innovation - building new offerings and bringing them to market.
Ability to effectively and persuasively communicate and provide recommendations.
Strong collaboration skills; demonstrated ability to navigate organizational complexity, develop relationships.
Experience successfully facilitating the fuzzy front-end of innovation – building compelling solutions; testing in the market; refining and generating business cases.
Effectively multi-task across multiple projects and competing priorities with strong management and motivational skills required to lead cross-functional efforts.
Ability to work independently to drive and deliver results.

Payer experience highly desired
Experience working in a start-up environment would be extremely beneficial in this role
Data science experience a plus
MBA or MPH a plus
