The IBM Industry Marketing team is a fast growing ‘start up’ organization.

The area of focus for this event leadership role is to bring IBM experts together with Clients and prospects to reimagine their Industry and Business processes by taking advantage of new technology.


Build and execute exceptional event experiences for IBM worldwide Industry Marketing teams. Drive IBM business and engagement by Industry through event participation and speaker placement. Drive demand by creating a customer experience that extends the brand and contributes to key Industry campaigns.

Partner with cross-functional teams to develop content, messaging and surround digital and social for events. Apply analytics and tools to understand attendees, behaviors, interests, improve engagement and optimize future event strategies.

This role will be responsible for evaluating the performance of IBM Industry Marketing events, making recommendations for improvement and changes in the Industry Marketing strategy. The role will collaborate with the Industry Marketing Content Directors to define the content strategy, messaging and speaker content development for the global Industry events. Contribute to brainstorms, ideations, and discussions around the Industry campaign strategy and define the overall event strategy.

Manage budgets and maximize ROI on event spend and participation.

Work with the Event Project managers to manage events end-to-end for on time execution collaborating with IBM teams and agencies. Lead a global strategy, working with local geographies and traveling globally to events where in-person participation is required.

Partner with the IBM Marketing teams around the world to deliver consistent and compelling speaking engagements and industry events that leverage the consistent stories and content developed in collaboration with the worldwide team.

The candidate must be organized and possess event strategy, project management and understanding of event execution skills.

30% Travel Required

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • A deep understanding of how to develop and apply content strategies to an event experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to research, learn and communicate with clients.

  • Exceptional leadership capabilities and strong interpersonal skills.

  • Aptitude to develop and maintain strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to explain a position on an issue with confidence and data to support view.

  • Ability to lead independently and to collaborate across teams.

  • Willingness to travel up to 30%.

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • BS/BA degree from an accredited college or university.

  • 3-5 years’ experience in business development, communications, marketing and operations.

  • Event execution experience in the technology space.
