IBM Insulator Process Engineer in ALBANY, New York

Job Description

Position is for engineer to work at its Albany, NY lab as Unit Process Engineer with focus on insulator films for emerging Semiconductor manufacturing technologies with applications in gate devices and metal interconnects. You will perform research and development to be used in advanced Complementary-Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor (CMOS) technology. Engineer will use their process tool knowledge and earn recognition for their contribution and expertise.

Responsibilities include:

*developing and improving processes and equipment;

*transferring new technology from research to development to high volume manufacturing;

*ensuring quality controls, procedures, and processes are in place and fully documented;

*working to continuously improve all areas of their processes/tools (including cost, process speed, defect levels, and impact on device performance) and quality controls.

Engineer works closely with development and integration teams to design, coordinate and implement valid experiments. Engineer will lead teams including tool vendors, development engineers, integration, and operations to address tool and process issues. You will advise management and technical teams on project direction. You will direct tool technicians and operators on tool recoveries and daily activities. The successful engineer will be excited to meet new challenges and exhibit a high-level of interest in understanding and solving complex technical problems. Experience with vendor tool software, process control charts, and process characterization is preferred. Related experience in thin films, metal deposition, or vacuum systems is preferred.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Must be fluent in English.

  • Degree in Science or Engineering

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • One year of experience with vendor tool software, process control charts, and process characterization is preferred.

  • One year of experience with related experience in thin films, metal deposition, or vacuum systems is preferred.

  • One year of experience and basic knowledge of chemistry

  • One year of experience and basic knowledge of material science and engineering.
