  1. Position SummaryProvide forecasting expertise for sales teams to support business objectives covering decision support products and services for multiple clients, to include but not limited to internal customers, broadcast services, aviation, energy and utilities in multiple locations using advanced weather detection and forecast technologies2. Essential duty and responsibility
  • Work closely with sales teams in Korea and Asia/Pacific

  • Use the TWC HoTL tool to monitor forecasts for potential impacts to customer assets involving significant weather events including severe thunderstorms, snow, ice and wind/tropical systems

  • Give clear verbal briefings tailored to various customer needs

  • Provide written briefings and blogs for various customers covering the medium term next 2 weeks and sub-seasonal next 4-weeks trends and anomalies across the forecast domain, with reference to global teleconnections and the risk of any potential significant or severe weather events

  • Use the TWC Max and HoTL tools to create graphical products to help explain and compliment verbal and written forecasts

  • Support, Interact and collaborate with the other global operational meteorology groups at The Weather Company with particular focus on any developing or potential severe weather events

  • Support and adhere to all operational deadlines which are based on business objectives.

  1. Knowledge skill and ability
  • Solid understanding of theoretical and practical meteorology

  • Demonstrable proficiency in forecast process within an operational forecasting environment

  • Demonstrable proficiency in utilizing advanced workstation technology and methods to derive short fused forecasts in an operational environment

  • Ability to deliver operational forecast content consistently and accurately within rigid time constraint

  • Demonstrable and exceptional organizational, data analysis, data collation and process management skills

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high pressure environment without sacrificing accuracy and attention to detail

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively coordinate multiple tasks and able to react to spontaneous changes in priorities

  • Fluent in Korean and English

  • Licensed as a Meteorologist by KMA

  • Bachelor’s degree in meteorology or related science with a higher degree a bonus.

  • 2 years of relevant experience in weather related field, with demonstrated achievements and progressive responsibilities

  • Background and/ or previous experience creating written and graphical weather briefings for Asia and Pacific preferred
