The Industrial and Applied Genomics Group at IBM Research, Almaden, is looking for a senior software engineer, to development prototype software and cloud services for IBM and partner companies exploring applications of genomics and metagenomics to food safety. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree (required) or master’s degree (preferred) in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.Required Skills:Full Stack Developer (24+ month experience, 1 major project),Java (12+ month experience, e.g. JPA, J2EE, CDI)Python (12+ month experience)DevOps tools (6+ month experience, e.g. Jenkins, JUnit, Maven)RDBMS/SQL (6+ month experience)Front end development (12+ month experience, e.g. Angular 2, React, Node.js)CSS and HTML (12+ month experience)Cloud Development and Deployment (6+ month experience, e.g. AWS, BlueMix, Google Cloud)RESTful Web Services API Development (6+ month experience)Desired skills: Exposure to Bioinformatics, Cluster Manager (perfer Apache Mesos or Celery or Kubernetes), NoSQL databases (document stores, wide column stores), Object Stores (e.g. Swift), Perl, plus a broad interest in solving scientific problems.
