  • Good experience in Netezza database and system configuration, directory structures and usage.

  • Hands on Netezza client installation, client-server connectivity(ports), NZSQL connectivity

  • Hands-on and good knowledge of different kinds of Netezza database objects like TEMP tables, MVIEWS etc

  • Good understanding of extents and zone map relations, default columns in tables and usage

  • Use of NzAdmin/NZMigrate tool for typical administrative tasks which include genstats, groom.

  • Good working knowledge of IBM support(PMR) and change management processes/flows or ISM tool

  • Work closely with IBM support to manage hardware/software failures, appliance upgrades, install patches for any critical changes

  • Create, test, implement and monitor an automated set of procedures for database backups, system events, system logs, database/system monitoring scripts and logs.

  • Knowledge & experience on Linux environment mandatory, shell scripting is desirable

  • Good understanding of different environment functions like DEV, PTS, PROD, TEST environments along with refresh tasks.

  • Assist development teams with planning and implementing database changes and query optimization.

  • Develop, and define administrative and operational standard practices using Netezza utilities (Groom, Distribution, Statistics, Zone Maps)

  • Work closely with IBM support to manage hardware/software failures, appliance upgrades, install patches for any critical changes

  • Recommend and implement a detailed security design based on minimum necessary privileges required.

  • Analyze, Review and recommend changes to business

  • Preparing & presenting RCAs to clients

  • Willing to work in 24x7 support environment with shift support

  • Knowledge of RDBMS (Oracle / Sybase / SQL Server) or replication tools (like Golden Gate) would be a plus
