Total Customer Experience (TCX) is a new discipline within IBM Digital Business Group designed to close the gap between customers’ expectations and the experiences IBM now delivers to them. We are a key part of IBM’s company-wide transformation and are driving a customer-centric culture that is agile, data-driven and holistic. As a UX Architect, you will play a critical role in the next phase of IBM’s digital evolution and growth strategy by joining a cross-functional team of diverse and highly skilled professionals which will include developers, designers, data analysts, strategists, UX architects and agile coaches. You will be the driving force behind the user experience and will collaborate closely with design leads in an iterative fashion. The UXA will challenge clients’ and team members’ preconceptions and help them visualize interactive experiences and communications that are clear, effective, and innovative. The team will be co-located in the IBM Studio at Astor Place – in the heart of New York’s Silicon Alley. We value creativity, collaboration, good fun, and a passion for digital experiences. Job Duties:
Gather user requirements, plan solutions, and define the experiential vision for primarily digital experiences.
Direct and create wireframes, site maps, written concepts, process flows, and build clickable wireframe prototypes.
Produce compelling diagrammatic visualizations and appropriate documentation to communicate solutions to the right party at the right time.
Present the nature of the experiences, both in person and remote, to product owners, internal project teams, clients, client leadership, and developers.
Work closely with Program Manager, strategists or third party consultants to conduct primary and secondary user research.
Collaborate closely with designers and technologists to visualize and execute experiences.
Conduct, design, and/or advise on user testing and use findings to inform additional iterations of the user experience.
Apply client knowledge to multiple projects over long-term, possibly multi-year engagements.
Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum 3+ years’ information architecture and/or UX design experience.
Minimum 3+ years’ experience defining and designing complex and dynamic websites, web applications, commerce websites, mobile experiences, and real-world environments/experiences.
Ability to refine a big idea down to the individual interaction level.
Drive to see ideas well executed in the end product.
Excellent analytic skills.
Ability to define the scope and strategy of a project and then execute each component.
Ability to interact at all levels of the company and with external parties in a professional manner maintaining effective communication, both written and spoken.
Adept at preemptively identifying problems and devising solutions.
A commitment to high quality work and to positive and productive relationships with all - clients, team members, peers, managers, etc.
Skills in complex problem solving, judgment, critical thinking and decision-making.
