Discover what you can do at IBM.As a critical role for client and IBM success, the Solution Architect is responsible for architectural, technical and business expertise to cross-disciplinary teams of IBM Consultants, IT Architects, and IT Specialists working across GBS industries and service lines. A key focus of the Solution Architect will be the selling, development, and delivery of complex solutions across Cognitive, Mobile, Smarter Process, Smarter Commerce, Cloud, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft, and Custom Application Development service lines. This individual must have complete life cycle experience in developing and delivering complex solutions across multiple technologies. The Solution Architect is responsible for defining the end-to-end solution architecture, defining the delivery approach and methodology, defining the work breakdown structure, and developing tops down and bottoms up estimates to deliver the program. The Solution Architect will lead, mentor, and help grow a world class technical team across technical communities. The Solution Architect will be involved in multiple phases of complex programs, including pre-sales activities to help define the technical approach for proposal and SOW responses, as well as analysis and design of the most complex programs during the delivery phase. Solution Architects will also be engaged in conducting periodic technical reviews and phase gate reviews of our largest and most complex programs, as well as Technical Delivery Assessment (TDA) reviews of key proposals. The Solution Architect will assist Program Managers in building and executing effective risk management plans, engineering plans, and independent assessment at all technical reviews, as well as ongoing design improvement strategies. The Solution Architect will be responsible for technical resolution of engineering issues while taking into account cost and schedule constraints. The Solution Architect will work on multiple projects and proposals in parallel and provide cross-program coordination and guidance of system architecture, design, and program planning and execution.In this dynamic role, you will have the opportunity to interact directly with clients. As such, travel to client sites may be required up to 4 days per week.   • At least 10 years of IT architecture, systems engineering, and design experience

  • At least 10 years of experience developing solutions and estimating the costs of the solution, defining the Work Breakdown Structure, integrated master schedule, and able to produce Basis of Estimates

  • At least 10 years of experience in client relationships, leading mixed discipline and organization teams, and achieving the goals and objectives for the project within cost and time constraints.

  • At least 10 years of experience in full lifecycle delivery of complex systems, including requirements, design, build, test, and deployment

  • At least 10 years of experience in system design and development processes, methods, and tools
