IBM Software Deployment Architect – Mid-Atlantic in New York, New York

IBM is currently hiring a Software Deployment Architect for the Distribution Market (Retail, CPG and Travel & Transportation Industries). This role is responsible for accelerating the deployment of IBM software products, while developing and maintaining a technical advisory relationship with the customer.The candidate will be expected to identify new solutions that leverage the capabilities across the entire IBM portfolio and drive software and Software as a Service (SaaS) sales revenue. The Software Deployment Architect provides leadership of technical activities to promote software adoption, set a vision for customers, lead requirements gathering and analysis, design solutions, facilitate demos and presentations and work as an integral part of a sales team to drive customer success. This is a technical sales leadership position. It is a customer facing role and the candidate should have the ability to work with Client Line of Business Executives and be able to work in a collaborative role with IBM sales teams and business partners.The technical team is required to be on the leading edge of technology and is responsible for leading the way as it relates to emerging technologies and growth initiatives. This role provides technical sales leadership for IBM's largest software accounts.Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership on solution design, deployment best practices, and IBM's technology roadmaps

  • Positioning IBM value through deployment and architecture discussions and workshops

  • Understand how IBM’s offerings compare, contrast, and integrate with the customer’s existing software investment from IBM, business partners, and the competition

  • Setting the technical strategy for development of implementation plans and sales opportunities

  • Leading requirements gathering and analysis

  • Use technical and business acumen to build and maintain relationships with key customer decision-makers, and actively seek new projects/opportunities to promote software adoption

  • Designing Cloud, Analytics, Mobile, Social and Security (CAMSS) solutions using IBM Capabilities

  • Preparing and presenting client-facing presentations and whiteboard discussions

  • Working as an integral part of a sales team

  • Owning key executive relationships

  • Driving customer success


  • Demonstrated leadership skills - effective listener and communicator; ability to train, mentor, and coach individuals at various stages of development

  • Ability to understand business problems and provide guidance to the team on strategies which will produce winning solutions in the Distribution Market

  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with all levels across the organization

  • Apply an understanding of the Distribution Market, industry trends, KPIs, financial measurements, key industry players and competitors to deliver solutions that address client needs

  • Ability to work in complex, matrix managed organizational environment

• 3+ years of experience in delivering software solutions (architecture, development, requirements analysis, testing, or support)• 3+ years of experience in managing customer relationships
