Technical Team Lead DevOps / Site Reliability We have very exciting opportunity for people to shape and influence the Watson Health division of IBM. Alongside an Ecosystem of partners and clients we are developing solutions that fundamentally change the identification, treatment and prevention of illness.We are seeking a Technical Team Lead to lead our DevOps team. This is a multidiscipline team that understands Cloud systems. Day to day the team are defining the Cloud architecture for the new Watson Care Manager product, they get involved at design stage collaborating with Engineering to build and deliver our environments, and have a strong focus on automation.As the Team Lead you will have operational experience in building new products and bringing them to production on the Cloud. You are will have a big picture view and be able to communicate the needs of operations to an Engineering team accustomed to “on premise” development. You will collaborate with stakeholders on architecture and optimizations, you will create scripts, mentor the team, and triage issues.Responsibilities:

  • Define the operational roadmap for the Watson Care Manager product feeding tasks into team sprint plans, and upward to senior management.

  • Lead technical activities in the team across elaborations / proof of concepts and delivery tasks always thinking of change can be returned to the Development process.

  • Be responsible for delivery of high quality system architecture and operational capabilities leading the charge for the Watson Care Manager organization.

  • Be Hungry to get involved in every part of our system; from the earliest stage of product architecture, design and development to deployment, troubleshooting, and performance analysis – to ensure a reliable quality product. Be a nimble flexible thinker.

  • Strongly collaborate and communicate to stakeholders, having the ability to influence across the organization from Architects, Developers to Managers.

  • Do what must be done in order to keep critical systems operating

  • Participate in periodic on-call rotation


  • Proven experience in Operations roles that have given you a system view of how applications run on the Cloud.

  • Proven systems with Linux or DB2, and Java development experience.

  • Extensive Experience of WebSphere, DB2 and IHS

  • Hands on knowledge of any of these technologies; Chef, UCD, ELK, Graphite, ElastAlert, Jenkins.

  • Track record of ensuring reliability, performant, and scalable systems.

  • ITIL certification is highly desirable.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role


• Proven systems, Linux or DB2, and Java development experience.• Extensive Experience of any; WebSphere , ISAM, Gateways such as Datapower, APIM.• Solid experience in Operations or Architecture roles that has given you a system view of how applications run on the Cloud. • Track record of ensuring reliability, performant, and scalable systems.• Solid understanding of systems with extensive understanding of middleware and storage.• Experience of DevOps tooling such as OpenStack Heat, Urban Code Deploy, Chef, Jenkins, Java.
