The Cloud Data Services mission is to provide the best experience for developers with a comprehensive set of rich, integrated cloud based offerings covering business insights, data and analytics. As Technical Sales you will be responsible for introducing our Cloud Data Services solutions to our customers and prospects. You will work closely with the Analytics Sales team (Direct sellers, Cloud Data Services specialty Sales, Inside Sales and Digital Sales) and work with customers building the next generation of cloud based technologies. It is expected that you will answer RFPs, do POCs, technology briefings and Hackathons, and be a resource in the field for technical and product related questions. Ideal candidates would have prior experience working with managed services delivery, networking, hosting infrastructure and IAAS solutions, and possess familiarity with database and data warehousing products, analytics, reporting and data integration applications in a customer-facing role.In this role, the candidate is responsible for discovering, progressing, and help close new business opportunities that solve our customers Big Data and Analytics challenges. IBM's leading products in categories such as data-at-rest (IBM BigInsights, DB2 on Cloud, dashDB), data-in-motion (InfoSphere Streams, Dataworks Forge), complex in-memory analytics (Spark as a Service) and managed Services (IBM Compose) are the focus areas of this position. It is important that you are a driven technical sales person with open source acumen with demonstrated technical aptitude, hands on experience, and track record in delivering infrastructure solutions for clients. Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrated Technical aptitude, business value aptitude, with a high level of written and oral communication and interpersonal skills

  • Engage in deep technical discussion with developers and engineers

  • Identifying client’s business and technical requirements

  • Articulating the technical benefits of IBM’s Cloud Data Services products, solutions and services and how they provide clients with tangible business value

  • Influencing key client decision makers and technical evaluators

  • Ability to build and deliver technical solutions to clients business needs

  • Commitment to stay current with SaaS, Cloud Data Services, and industry/sector trends

  • Ability to articulate, define and execute creative strategies to grow the business and reach new markets to include our customer base and developer communities


  • 2 yrs experience in Information Management and Big Data technologies

  • 1 yrs experience in Managed Service technologies

  • 1 yr experience project development with SQL and NoSQL databases


  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology

  • At least 1-3 year experience in Managed Services / SaaS / Cloud sales organization

This position can be based out of Sydney or Melbourne.
