We have an Australia wide Intern Network, providing opportunities to get to know your peers, meet executives and participate in social events. IBM Global Procurement is part of the IBM Transformation and Operations team, and responsible to acquire goods and services efficiently and effectively for IBM internal use as well as for external clients.What you’ll do –

  • Assist with procurement of goods and services, development of proposal and/or negotiation of contracts of low risk and moderate complexity consistent with customer requirements.

  • Support procurement events and management activities within region/geography for various commodities.

  • Work as a member of IBM's worldwide procurement team, interfacing with suppliers on issues that affect supplier operations and IBM strategic issues.

  • Implement supply chain initiatives that provide end-to-end integrated opportunities for efficiency.

  • Establish, execute and track project plans, utilizing fundamental project management techniques.

  • Using the broad objectives of IBM Procurement, work to improve business processes.

  • Communicate/negotiate with suppliers and customers as well as IBM Management.

  • Monitor industry trends and changes to maintain awareness of current practices.

  • Manage additional responsibilities as assigned.

Preferred skills:* The ideal candidate will have exceptional verbal and written communication skills, have strong analytical skills and business acumen, enjoy problem solving and be comfortable with ambiguity.* Knowledge of Procurement principles such as purchasing, supply chain, e-commerce (or e-procurement), business and contract law, finance and accounting.* MS Excel (Financial modelling).* MS Powerpoint.
