This role is for a Mobile developer / Architect to become a Senior Architect and leader for mobile delivery projects. Above all, we are looking for excellent software engineers, who really care about the quality of their code; and have an aptitude for identifying innovative technical solutions to unique challenges. Pair this with leadership skills to encourage and inspire the team, and to fill the client with confidence in the quality of the delivery you are leading.The successful candidate will be working with Clients and their senior staff to invent new solutions as they transform their business through the use of Mobile apps in particular and Digital services in general. This will require you to identify the right technological solutions and ways of working, and turning these into viable designs that deliver the results our clients demand. This role will also play a part in preparing proposals, estimation of time/effort/costs for development, presenting to clients and supporting business development activities (i.e. in bid teams); as well as working on software application developments (or integrations) in mobile/tablets/mobile-web/social.You will be flexible, adaptable, hard-working and willing to travel or work away from home (including overseas weekday stays in hotels and working on client sites) up to 80% at times. You will be capable of anticipating and adjusting priorities and changing focus or rapidly starting up new projects. You must be a proactive, ‘self-starter’ and a confident ‘networker’, internally in IBM and externally as well.You will have specific skills and strengths in native mobile/tablet specific developments and hybrid mobile-web technologies, including the libraries and frameworks associated with responsive designs. You should be able to make the link between the User Experience, User Interface and developments.Preferred candidates will have a digital agency, consulting or professional services background, or have worked in mobile-specific projects for a high-technology company. Software design, development and delivery of Mobile Apps, including their integration and server side components.
Experience in leading development teams through the complete life cycle.
Leading the drive for quality, balancing with the need for speed of delivery and innovative solutions.
Teaching and inspiring the delivery team, by example with exemplary code and high quality software architectures
Working closely with Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Project Managers and Client teams to provide the technical leadership for the delivery.
And the successful candidate will have
Passion for all Digital Channels including Web, Interactive TV, Voice and Chat to name a few.
Knowledge of SOA and Microservice architectures with a view of Serverless architectures.
Specific experience in mobile applications and mobile software development – including experience of releasing at least 1 mobile native app into a public/enterprise store
Experience with Technical leadership responsibilities and planning, with a preference for Agile team working.
iOS developers must have experience of Apple's iOS SDK (Media, Cocoa Touch, Core Services, and Core OS) and ideally be knowledgeable of Swift and iOS.
Has experience of x-Code/Cordova/Phonegap, and Mobile middleware / API platforms and cloud platforms such as IBM Bluemix, AWS etc.
Familiarity of prototyping with Axure RP7, or in Fluid UI etc.
Experience in all aspects of the mobile lifecycle – e.g. application development (structure, device and operating system API’s, debugging, performance, security) and live deployments; and experience in using version control systems (e.g. GIT)
Understanding of Style Guides (e.g. Apple Style Guide, Human Interface and Store Guides) and knowledge of latest advances and trends in mobile technologies (e.g. NFC and iBeacons)
Experience in working with mobile middleware and mobile integration approaches with various mobile web services and message exchanges (i.e. JSON & REST, or also SOAP & XML)
Technical degree (BSc.) required in computer science, engineering or similar
Demonstrable technical knowledge in native app development languages for iOS (Obj.C/Swift) and Android (J2EE/Java ME/J2ME); or possibly in-depth C or C++ expertise
Desire and ability to lead through example, and information sharing is a vital element of the job.
Good social skills to team with people from all over the world, and to inspire them.
