IBM Occupational Health Specialist in HEREDIA, Costa Rica

Role description: This person is responsible for processing:• Assist in compliance reviews, general risk assessments and other safety assessments to support Health, Safety and Environmental management.• Maintain relevant IHS logs and documentation.•Asist in the compliance of applicable laws and regulations.•Prepare applicable IHS reports as necessary.•Provide assistance and advice on IHS issues to make recommendations to facility management.•Performs ergonomics evaluations to IBM’s employees and recommend specialized equipment.• Buy ergonomics equipment.• Organize and promote health and ergonomics prevention programs for IBM population.• Participate in detailed incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis•Promote incident prevention for the benefit of employees and visitors.•Assist in the development and presentation of relevant IHS training•Observe IHS regulations, encourages safe working practices, corrects obvious hazards immediately or reports them to the proper personnel.•Ability to work with employees and achieve cultural change in the face of potential resistance.•Maintain positive and proactive relations with managers and employees, as well as our clients and regulatory agencies.•Perform other work related tasks as required as assigned• Facility Specific Responsibilities (but not limited to):•Conduct daily and monthly IHS Meetings/Trainings and schedule as needed.•Write, implement, and manage HIS Programs, Policies and Procedures•Quarterly performs IBM’s facilities Inspections, creates and manages action plans as a result of the review.•Have knowledge and enforce compliance of Regulatory requirements including company IHS policies and procedures.•Ability to oversee hazardous waste, storage area and ensure regulatory agency compliance i.e. labeling, containment, proper disposal, documentation, etc.•Manages the Emergency Response team•Manages Accidental Insurance program and reporting to vendor (INS).•Oversee Behavior Based / Observation Safety Programs.•Help develop Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)•Follow Fall Protection program, inspect all fall protection equipment and maintain inspection records.•Ability to oversee Safety Incentive Programs.•Assist in administering and maintaining compliance programs•Perform additional duties as assigned by IHS manager.

  • At least 3 years of experience in direct Environmental, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health or Safety.

  • Direct experience must include leading and influencing organizations.

  • Strong leadership. communication, influencing and collaborative skills

  • Computer savvy in Excel and Word

  • Knowledge if Behavior Based Safety
