IBM Watson Health - Senior Production Support Engineer - Merge in DURHAM, North Carolina

Working under minimal supervision, the Senior Production Support Engineer will test, deploy, and operationally support multi-tiered web applications. Essential Job Duties

  • Respond to IT support requests from eClinical employees

  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues

  • Install and configure application software on servers.

  • Perform upgrades and apply patches

  • Ensure proper backup and recovery of application data

  • Monitor performance of eClinical environment

  • Automate administration tasks

  • Communicate with vendors to resolve issues

  • Create and maintain systems documentation and SOPs.

  • Champion improvements to IT culture (kaizen)

  • Participates in 24x7x365 on-call rotation to support IT systems.

  • Pursues a program of self-development through the use of selected reading, seminars, and participation in continuing education.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or upper management.

  • 5+ years Experience supporting the development, test, and production environments for in-house developed software

  • Advanced knowledge of Linux operating systems, file systems and security

  • Advanced knowledge of server software

  • Advanced knowledge of build and deployment automation

  • Self directed and able to work independently with a minimum of direction; a self starter

  • Effective time management, adaptable to changing priorities and capable of managing multiple projects on the same timeline

  • Drives a customer-focused culture, committed to continuous improvement

  • Eager to learn new skills, technology, and software applications

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in English

  • Proficient in troubleshooting and problem solving methodologies
