Security Analyst – Linux/UNIX TeamIBM has a need for an experienced Security Analyst with a solid track record of completing assignments in a high volume, dynamic environment with experience administrating Linux/UNIX systems. This position is focused on analyzing the security impact and management of IBM's internal infrastructure of physical and virtual hosts. This is a great opportunity for technical growth and acquiring new skill sets. Evaluating and interpreting security requirements with respect to supporting many of IBM's products and tools is a strong aspect of this role, and will allow for innovative ideas to improve performance, issue mitigation, and workflow. The perfect candidate will have experience investigating security issues of all kinds, knowledge of many distributions of Linux/UNIX, as well as a wide variety of knowledge in multiple aspects of technology. This role requires the ability to adapt to change, continuously improving the services we offer as the premier hosting provider. Responsibilities:
Implement, administer and monitor a comprehensive corporate and federal environment to ensure the integrity, confidentiality and availability of information owned, controlled or processed by the organization.
Perform daily security activities as it related to the security profile of the platform and all relevant systems.
Provide evaluation on security related information from a variety of sources.
Ensure compliance with all applicable directives that drive our overall security position.
Risk assessment responsibilities with respect to internal systems and how they interact with the global infrastructure footprint including remediation activities that require active changes through CI/CD and configuration management.
Accurately report on findings and/or events to aggressively protect assets.
Manage multiple projects with varying priority levels and time lines from conception to implementation.
Participate in dialogue centered on innovative solutions to improve current policies and procedures.
Demonstrate best practices from both a security analyst as well as systems administration mindset.
Work alone and with technical writers to document changes with regard to procedures and services.
Communicate with other internal groups to solve problems with the integrity of the platform in mind.
5+ years of professional experience with Linux/UNIX systems in a production environment.
Understanding of basic network concepts, familiarity with TCP/IP and VLAN functionality.
Strong understanding of security best practices and their effect on usability.
Ability to automate solutions to repetitive tasks.
Demonstrative written and verbal communication skills to audiences with a wide variety of technical knowledge
Very strong troubleshooting skills towards root cause analysis and practical issue resolution.
Solid understanding of universal network services such as DNS, MySQL, SMTP, LDAP as well as the ability to speak authoritatively about their function.
Knowledge of one or more interpretive languages(PHP, Bourne shell, Python, Ruby)
