Install and manage storage solutions.
Provide highest level of technical support, guidance and direction for products supported.
Analyse and resolve escalated problems.
Participate in the recovery of application environments where required.
Maintain software licensing.
Development and maintenance of storage standards, procedures, policies, security etc.
Ensure integrity of supported environment.
Actively and pre-emptively determine possible faults and causes
Provide team leader with input re projects/directions when required
Manage and resolve problems identified by Sysadmins or monitoring software
Work with change and problem management tools
Provide technical assistance to the other members of the team.
Hardware /software fault detection and correction - vendor liasing
Liase with customer accounts as required
Analyse and resolve escalated problems within target.
Provide technical guidance in respect of product usage, techniques etc across functional areas.
Actively participate in the planning and implementation of SAN storage solutions.
Investigate, identify and document proposals that will improve application recoverability.
Perform storage device Service Activation & Deactivation (SA&D), security compliance and audits when required.
Investigate, identify, document and implement technical standards as required.
Change and problem management targets are exceeded
Experience in a large commercial UNIX and INTEL environments.
Excellent knowledge of SAN switches –Brocade
Excellent knowledge OF IBM Storage – IBM DS8000, SAN Volume Controller (SVC), Tivoli Productivity Center (TPC). Knowledge of other vendor Disk systems (EMC, HDS) may be beneficial, not required.
Good working knowledge of Windows 2008 or Linux environments.
Proven track record in the implementation and support of complex products.
Has in-depth knowledge and can perform without assistance. Can direct others in performing. Repeated and successful experience.
