IBM has a technology service delivery center in Columbia, Missouri. The service center provides maintenance and monitoring of computer hardware and systems to IBM’s business clients in the United States. This Technical Delivery Services Center primarily supports US Strategic outsourcing clients, providing server systems operations, security services, and end user services, including maintenance and monitoring of computer hardware and software systems. IBM’s Technical Delivery Services Center is focused on increasing delivery quality and brings together all IBM worldwide service delivery capabilities for Strategic Outsourcing.
IBM is seeking Technical Support Specialists responsible for applying expert analysis to provide support for z/OS (MVS) projects, changes and problems. This level of support is not routine or standardized and the creation of documentation explaining solutions or procedures is often required. Incumbents are also responsible for mentoring and training other team members.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Support problem and change tickets for work involving problem determination and implementation of changes to the z/OS (MVS) operating system and related products. These tasks consist of the most complex and non standard work and require independent thought and problem solving to resolve.
Lead and mentor support teams to execute z/OS complex ISV product upgrades.
Lead and mentor support teams in the correction of complex z/OS security non compliance issues.
Work with Quality Analyst (QA) and Dispatcher to resolve identified green team/QA investigations.
Mentor and train other team members
Work to standardize repeatable tasks and steps across multiple accounts within the team.
Team members participate once or more a day in cadence discussion on team performance. They discuss issues or challenges, and receive trouble-shooting input /advice from other team members. They may also discuss team performance trends. Team members may also separately interact and exchange information with members of cross-pool teams.
Act as champions of LEAN, facilitate or engage in problem solving to create a continuous improvement culture
High School Diploma/GED
At least 2 years experience in in MVS Systems programming support of the z/OS (MVS) operating system environment
At least 2 years experience in in planning and implementing the z/OS operating system and related program product upgrades
At least 2 years experience in in advanced problem determination on the z/OS platform
Associate's Degree/College Diploma in Information Technology
At least 4 years experience in in MVS Systems programming support of the z/OS (MVS) operating system environment
Basic knowledge in Maximo tool
At least 4 years experience in in advanced problem determination on the z/OS platform
