  • The Offering Manager owns strategy for a Client Care Services offering, determines its user value proposition, and defines the differentiated offering.

  • Understands the market opportunity and requirements, sets detailed direction and priorities across disciplines to bring offering to market

  • Leverages a team of development managers to build the solution, possibly adopting Agile development processes.

What you’ll do:

  • Develops and delivers innovative offerings to market, defining all offering elements and value proposition including components (e.g., services, products, etc.), functionality, UI/UX needs, customer success, digital engagement, APIs, and ecosystem requirements.

  • Brings fresh thinking from experience building business cases, launching differentiated offerings, and designing new GTM strategies. Has worked across disciplines/Units to launch new offerings or features with demonstrated commercial success.

  • Offering Managers will sit in the Units and Brands but are expected to lead cross discipline teams, drawing upon resources and expertise across IBM.

  • The role of Offering Managers in this discipline will be notably different from those of Product and Portfolio Managers that we have today. We are aligning Offering Management practitioners to markets, not just products.

  • Markets are defined by domain, industry, and geography. For example: Domain (e.g., Cloud Security), Domain + Industry (e.g., IoT in Auto), or Industry (Watson Health).

  • The focus is on creating complete offerings that may include services – or are solely services – as well as ecosystems, go to market, and enablement. Offering Management practitioners will be delivering client success and creating the right digital engagement experiences.

  • We are empowering Offering Managers to set overall direction in a market, define the resources needed within the context of the unit's strategy, and establish priorities across disciplines.

  • Technical undergraduate degree or strong technical experience. MBA preferred.

  • Total experience should be more than 15 years, 10 -12 years of relevant experience required in product management or related field, with proven track record of market success.

  • Sets direction for design, sales, and marketing to plan innovative go-to-market strategies. Determines marketing investment by channel, converts technical positioning into key market messages, and indicates which specific competitors and offerings IBM’s messaging and outreach must position against.

  • Maintains close relationships with marketing communications and sales management and leverages superior communication skills to socialize offering differentiation by market segment and client profile/cohort.

  • Experience managing P&L, profit pressures, and making trade-off decisions. Professional mastery and knowledge related to translating customer needs and buying preferences, market trends and technology capabilities and competitive insights into segment strategy and offering design requirements, and executing on that vision throughout the offering life cycle.
