IBM Lead Dev Ops Engineer in AUSTIN, Texas

IBM GTS is the partner of choice for infrastructure services – be it transformational outsourcing tied to business outcomes or integrated managed services or discrete services.Our Austin, Texas location is looking to build out its Dev Ops team and looking for two technical leads. The engineers will have the following responsibilities

  • Work heavily with Kubernetes and Docker and clouds

  • Ensure all systems are highly available

  • Ensure we achieve maximum performance from the systems

  • Write code to automate all related ops processes

  • Change management

  • Monitor infrastructure and applications

  • L2 escalation for production issues

  • Capacity planning to ensure that systems can support production workloads and scale

  • Ensure that all systems are continually secure

  • Hands on Technical Lead role

Min. of 5 years of

  • Knowledge and experience in designing, deploying and administering complex cloud applications (IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure)

  • Experience working with config. management tools (puppet, chef, ansible)

  • A strong working knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker

  • An in-depth knowledge of Linux troubleshooting, including networking, file systems, security, and the kernel.

  • Comfortable picking up and learning existing automation code (Bash, Python)

  • In depth knowledge of troubleshooting tools for debugging/tuning web services/API’s.

  • Excellent knowledge of git best practices

  • Strong scripting skills and an eagerness to automate (Bash, Python)

  • Good understanding of modern micro-services architectures

  • Ability to carry out monitoring & performance metrics analysis using common monitoring tools.

  • Experience designing and enforcing disaster recovery plans & business continuity contingencies.

  • Experience being on-call in a 24x7 production environment.
