IBM Business Intelligence & Advanced Analytics Technical Sales Specialist in Austin, Texas

IBM’s Public Market Analytics organization is looking for a Technical Sales Specialist for its Business Intelligence & Advanced Analytics team in the eastern United States. Our mission is to provide our customers, in state & local government, healthcare and education, with analytic capabilities to better understand, anticipate and shape desirable outcomes.As a Technical Sales Specialist you will be responsible for introducing our business intelligence, predictive and advanced analytics, and cognitive analytic solutions to our customers and prospects.You will work closely with the Analytics sales team and our customers in identifying analytic solutions leveraging IBM technologies to address customer needs. It is expected that you will become a specialist in the offerings, dedicated to knowing the technology inside-and-out, answer RFPs, do POCs, technology briefings, and be the go-to person in the field for technical and product related questions. Ideal candidates would have prior experience in a customer-facing role working with Cognos and SPSS or similar solutions, and would possess familiarity with database, data warehousing and data integration products, as well as cloud solutions, In addition, the ideal candidate would have a background in working with healthcare organizations, state & local government and/or higher education.In this role, you will be responsible for discovering, progressing, and helping to close new business opportunities that solve our customers’ analytics challenges. It is essential that you are a driven technical sales person with demonstrated technical aptitude, hands on experience, and track record in developing analytic solutions. Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand the client's business requirements, technical requirements and the competitive landscape.

  • Apply product and industry-specific knowledge to understand business problems and bring relevant recommendations to the client

  • Develop and deliver compelling demonstrations, proofs of concept, technical deep dives, and other pre-sales assets which tie IBM’s analytics technology to customer value

  • Take initiative to own accounts and issues and drive team members toward a common goal of winning business

  • Articulate the technical benefits of IBM’s Business Intelligence, and Advanced and Predictive Analytic products, solutions and services, and how they provide clients with tangible business value

  • Influence key client decision makers and technical evaluators

  • Commitment to stay current with technical solutions and government, healthcare, and education industry trends

  • Demonstrated technical and business value aptitude

  • A high level of written and oral communication as well as interpersonal skills

  • At least 2 years of experience with Cognos Business Intelligence (BI) or related BI software experience, or SPSS (predictive analytics) or related analytics software

  • Readiness to travel 30% annually
