You will utilise your strong written and verbal communication skills, develop your reporting and analysis ability and build on your professional business administration skills.This internships is the opportunity to work as an OpenPower/OpenStack kernel engineer.Some activities include:- Software development in Python, C and powerpc assembly- Designing, implementing, Testing and debugging codeDuration: 6 months, commencing Dec 2016/early 2017.Area of study:• Computer Science - Operating systems or Software Engineering• Engineering -Different streams can be considered• Final year students are strongly preferredTechnical Skills/Knowledge Preferred:

  • C programming experience

  • Software design

  • Familiarity with Operating systems concepts and scripting languages – bash and python

  • Linux kernel development and debugging

  • Ability to coach others with social tools and technologies

  • Completed subjects such as Microprocessor Architecture, Operating Systems

Non-Technical Skills/Knowledge Preferred

  • Problem Solving and Analysis

  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal

  • Good Microsoft Office skills, Word, PowerPoint and Excel skills – Macros would be an advantage

  • Time management skills

  • Team player -the ability to work with others in team for a desired outcome, including different departments

  • Flexibility, adaptable to change

  • Strong written communication skills
